SLU DANCE MARATHON
St. Louis University Miracle Dance Marathon is a yearly event that strives to celebrate the kids and support the families of both St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon. St. Louis Dance Marathon is one of over 300 Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs across the country.
What is Dance Marathon?
The Dance Marathon (DM) program is completely student-run and aims to raise money year-round. SLU Dance Marathon hosts its ‘Main Event’ in November. This event is the culmination of a year-long effort For The Kids (FTK).
The Main event is the opportunity for the entire student body to come together in celebration of their hard work. The participants stand on their feet for 12 hours, dance, cry, laugh and raise money FTK. The students get the opportunities to hear from ‘miracle families’, families that have experienced care from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
It’s important to keep the students entertained for the 12 hour day, which is where Utopia comes in. Apart from food, games, campus club performances and miracle stories, there is a LOT of dancing.
How Did Utopia Help?
In addition to lighting and sound, Utopia provided entertainment for the entire Dance Marathon. Not only did our DJ play music all day to keep the students entertained, we also ran the different sound cues and slideshow to ensure that the day stayed on schedule.
SLU was also able to meet with Utopia’s Dance Marathon ‘expert’ through the year for help in all aspects of planning. It was comforting for the SLU Dance Marathon team to know that our team has experience with planning events like this.
The 12-hour event was nothing short of electric. It’s events like this that remind us why we do what we do. We are forever thankful to be FTK!
